Responsibility
We acknowledge that waste is an inevitable part of production. Some knitted panels are defective and cannot be assembled into finished garments. In other cases, yarn cannot be unraveled and reused, or exists only in small quantities that are difficult to work with on their own.
Rather than discarding these materials, we look for ways to extend their life.
Working with What Remains
Repair by Hand
When panels are defective, our artisans repair or reknit them by hand whenever possible, extending their lifespan and reducing unnecessary waste.
Reworking into New Forms
Panels that cannot be used for garments are transformed into smaller objects such as bags, accessories, and experimental pieces.
Crochet with Local Communities
Small quantities of leftover yarn are incorporated into handmade crochet pieces created in collaboration with women in rural communities. This provides an additional source of income while allowing traditional handcraft skills to continue within their local environment.
Thousand Rows
Through Thousand Rows, our hand-frame knitting approach allows us to significantly reduce material waste. The process offers greater flexibility in production and enables yarn to be reworked more efficiently, helping retain and reuse a high percentage of materials.
An Ongoing Process
We do not see responsibility as a fixed solution, but as an ongoing process—one that evolves alongside our work, our collaborators, and the materials we use.
We continue to question, adapt, and explore new possibilities as we learn.
