Gauge Guide
In our machine knitting, gauge (GG) refers to the spacing between needles and plays a key role in determining the fabric’s weight, texture, and the appropriate yarn thickness. A higher gauge produces a finer, lighter fabric, while a lower gauge creates a chunkier, more textured knit.
We care deeply about what we create and want you to understand exactly what you’re getting. We hope you love it as much as we do.
| Machine Gauge (GG) | Suitable Yarn Type | Fabric Characteristics | Common Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 GG | Jumbo / Very thick yarn | Very chunky, open knit | Statement pieces, winterwear, outerwear |
| 5 GG | Bulky yarn | Chunky and warm | Heavy sweaters, cardigans, jackets |
| 7 GG | Light bulky / Aran yarn | Medium-heavy knit | Casual sweaters, transitional wear |
| 12 GG | Fine yarn | Lightweight and smooth | Fashion tops, refined knitwear, dresses |
| 16 GG | Extra-fine yarn | Ultra-light, delicate, close texture | Luxury pieces, base layers, soft essentials |
