Gauge Guide
In our machine knitting, gauge (GG) refers to the spacing between needles and plays a key role in determining the fabric’s weight, texture, and the appropriate yarn thickness. A higher gauge produces a finer, lighter fabric, while a lower gauge creates a chunkier, more textured knit.
We care deeply about what we create and want you to understand exactly what you’re getting. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Machine Gauge (GG) | Suitable Yarn Type | Fabric Characteristics | Common Applications |
---|---|---|---|
3 GG | Jumbo / Very thick yarn | Very chunky, open knit | Statement pieces, winterwear, outerwear |
5 GG | Bulky yarn | Chunky and warm | Heavy sweaters, cardigans, jackets |
7 GG | Light bulky / Aran yarn | Medium-heavy knit | Casual sweaters, transitional wear |
12 GG | Fine yarn | Lightweight and smooth | Fashion tops, refined knitwear, dresses |
16 GG | Extra-fine yarn | Ultra-light, delicate, close texture | Luxury pieces, base layers, soft essentials |
